At most weddings guests want to purchase gifts for the happy couple to start their lives together and put together a home.
However, it’s difficult to buy presents for other people especially when you don’t know what they might already have or what the theme and color scheme of their home is. That is why there are wedding registries, they take the guesswork out of gift buying. But it can be overwhelming to just suddenly have to put together a list of everything you want and will need for your new home. Here are some helpful tips to help you pick better gifts for your wedding registry.
Choose your stores carefully
Think about all the things you need and would like to receive. Make a list of stores that carry these products. Visit each store’s website and read about their bridal registry process. Some stores offer incentives such as discounts off future purchases or a percentage of gifts bought there. Others have specific return policies and conditions that you should be aware of. Also look at their shipping terms, some stores offer free shipping which will please your guests. Since most couples only select two to five stores make sure they also have the greatest number of items you might potentially register for as possible.
Start early
Begin registering for your gifts as soon as possible so you can add things as you think of or see them. Also, if a shower is being thrown for you guests will often purchase gifts from your wedding registry to give to you at your shower. Remember to pick items of all different price ranges so that your guests can work within their price range and not feel out of place or put off by overly expensive presents.
Pick your themes
Select the themes and color schemes for your new home. Talk with your future spouse and really think things through. Once you’ve decided on the look of your new home you can pick color specific and theme specific items such as tropical bath towels, soap dispensers and trash and bath rugs. Themed items are often more expensive than solid or standard items so this is the perfect opportunity for you to get the best decorative items possible.
Make several lists
Have both you and your future spouse create lists of items you would like. Compare your lists and make some choices as to what is the most important and what kinds (brands, styles and models) of certain items you would really like. As you go through your typical day write down items that come to mind. Put these on the list then go online and look at your selected stores. You can add items to your registry online so adding items, even on a daily basis, is really easy and actually sort of fun.
