Men today have more desire to push the envelope with fashion: they make bolder choices. By adding modern fit to practical basics, and selecting a stronger palette, today’s designers are giving classic fashion a new edge. If you are interested in the latest looks for men’s fashion this Spring, we’ve put together a top ten list of trends you can reference to keep your wardrobe current.

10.) Leather Jackets – Leather is a perennial, but today’s designers have chosen biker jackets for their Spring runway shows. A classic biker jacket is masculine, practical, and adds a vintage feel to an ensemble. From the classic style of Marlon Brando in The Wild One, to the sleeker versions John Varvatos features in his Spring collection, the biker jacket continues to evolve as a staple of men’s fashion.

9.) Shorts With Sports Jackets – This daring reconfiguration of the classic sports suit is not for everyone. But, for those who seek a truly innovative silhouette, this pairing can be a success. By adding Bermudas to a loosely tailored sports jacket, often in neutral khaki, you can achieve a preppy look for the warmer season ahead. On the runway, Perry Ellis showed a pinstriped version of this trend.

8.) Sailing Looks - A nautical twist was added to sporty men’s basics this season, as Nautica, the gold standard for sailing attire, went further with their signature look. Classic colors like navy were combined with yellow and white for a clean, masculine look.

7.)  Tie Bars – At J. Crew, men’s ties were accented with classic tie bars, a look that hasn’t surfaced for some time. Look for tie bars to add a touch of modern flair to your suiting this spring.

6.) Solid White – White suits with all-white accessories were featured in abundance on the Spring runways, with cutting-edge lines like Kilgour showing white cardigans under fitted white suits. This look is a daring one, and works best on a lean body type. Pure white represents a real trend for the upcoming season.

5.) Bold Stripes
Paul Smith is known for his exquisite tailoring and body-conscious fit. He amped up his Spring suiting looks with bold vertical stripes in brown and white.

4.) Shorts With Cuffs
– This Spring, the runways were filled with Eighties influences, and Versace also referenced the decade with cuffed, chino shorts. Paired with graphic sweaters, these soft, deconstructed shorts had a relaxed, casual feel.

3.) Ombre Designs – Ombre styles feature a gradual change in tones, and they are a high-fashion option for men this season. Gradient designs such as these are bold and avant-garde, and are not meant for the meek of heart. Givenchy featured ombre shirts and shorts on its runway this Spring.

2.) Indian InfluencesArmani used his masterful attention to detail in order to produce designs with an Eastern influence for Spring 2009. Filmy tunics and shorts in jewel tones like magenta and violet were shown on the runway. His shorts went past the knee, for a bohemian effect. This ensemble was accessorized with filmy scarves in coordinated tones.

1.) Patterned JacketsMoschino are known for their sense of whimsy, and even irony, and they did not disappoint in their men’s collection this year. Adding a dose of irreverence to the classic suit, they chose bold micro patterns in graphic red, black and white for their jackets, balancing the louder top with basic black pants.
