Baby showers are splendid occasions. Everyone is excited about a new baby and loves to shower the mommy-to-be with lots of great gifts to help her start off her baby’s life on the right foot and make sure she has everything she requires to take care of the infant’s many needs.
 Plus there is usually great food, good company and so corny but traditional games that put a smile on everyone’s face. Most women love baby shopping, the clothes are so tiny and adorable that is all anyone ever wants to purchase it seems. But if you want to give a really great baby gift then forget about the basic clothes and think of items that the new mom could really use or that would be extremely sweet and touching. Baby monitors
Baby monitors are a great way for a new mom and dad to manage to get some sleep while still being aware of when the baby starts to cry, breathes strangely or has any problems. Get a couple sets even so they can have one downstairs, in the bedroom and anywhere else they might be frequently such as in their home office or kitchen.
Diapers
Parents go through a mass of diapers early on and those can sure add up. Purchase a pack of diapers and that new parent will love you forever. There are lots of sizes for all the baby’s many stages so perhaps choose some for newborns and then some for 3-6 months or even later if you want. This will help them out and cut down on some steep diaper bills which they will be very thankful for.
Personalized items
Get things with the baby’s name personalized on it this is a fun and sentimental gift. Try photo frames, baby’s first Christmas stockings, silver spoons and a feeding dish, bibs, even onesies with their names on the butt flap or front. These are items that will be cherished and kept for a long time because they are so precious. Plus it shows how much you care, that you took the time and thought to have the personalization done.
Breast pump units
Is the new mommy a working mother that will have to return shortly after the baby is born? If so a great gift is a breast pump unit which will allow her to pump milk to be left with the baby while she is away. There are some pretty high tech ones on the market now that make pumping a breeze and actually make the mom feel a lot better by lightening her load in the process.
Health care items
Many people forget about all the little things that keep a baby healthy and happy. Items like baby toothbrushes, combs, thermometers and more are great presents because they are necessary items that most people overlook. These are also things that are needed as soon as the baby is born because anything can happen, it’s important to be able to take the baby’s temperature in case they get sick and so on.
