This compact camera has a 3x optical zoom lens and is relatively lightweight. It comes with a carrying strap, USB cable, audio visual cable, rechargeable Li-ion battery, battery charger
, CD-Rom software, quick start guide, user’s manual, one-year limited warranty, and registration card.
In my opinion, this is a good camera for a person not familiar with digital cameras, and the basics of picture taking with this product are easy to learn.
After turning on the camera, pressing down slightly on the shutter-release button while looking at the monitor will cause a small double-border square to focus on the faces.
When the subject is in focus, the double-border glows green. Then the shutter-release button can be pressed all the way down, and the picture will be taken.
If no faces are recognized, the focus will be automatically selected using the object closest to the camera. As with faces, when the object is in focus, the double-border glows green. I have found this feature helpful when centering people or objects in a photo.
Once photos are taken, you can view them with the touch of a button, and delete one or all of them with two easy steps.
The User’s Manual is easy to follow as it explains how to get the best pictures in all types of conditions, such as beach/snow, dusk/dawn, or when shooting at a sporting event or a fireworks show.
The photos can be loaded onto a computer using the camera’s USB cable, and I found the printed picture quality to be very good when using matte or glossy photo paper.
Among its many features, this camera is capable of recording short movies with sound. As with photo-taking, the color for movies can be set to your preference of: standard color, vivid color, black-and-white, sepia, or cyanotype. I made a very short 2-minute movie filmed in the vivid color mode.
I thought the playback on the camera’s monitor was very clear, as was the speaking. Movies can also be played back on a television monitor.
This product also has a tripod socket.
