Your family is important to you, but life can be so busy…if you need a little inspiration in order to come up with some new and exciting ways to bring the family together, we can help. having fun with familyFamily fun helps everyone bond with one another, and it provides so much love and support to every member of the family, no matter how tiny they may be! Here are some great ideas for family fun, that won’t break your budget or require a lot of planning and fuss.

Game Nights

Having a family game night is retro and fun. A baby may not be able to participate, but they can watch and listen to the laughter and good energy as you all sit down together and play any kind of game. All the classics like Monopoly and Risk work well, but your children may enjoy it if you experiment a little bit with some new and inventive games. There is a fun game called Beat the Parents where you stage a trivia battle, generation versus generation. Kids ask their Mom & Dad questions that kids can usually answer and parents ask the kids questions most parents can answer. If you supply some fun and healthy snacks like whole-grain tortilla chips and salsa, frozen yogurt, and colorful juices, it will feel like a party to your children.

bowling Bowling

Bowling may cost a little money, but I’ve never seen families at a bowling alley with frowns on their faces! Paying for a couple of games may be worth the expense, as it is something that both children and their parents can enjoy equally: when parents are having a good time, children feel positive energy that is contagious. If your children are old enough, consider a once-a-month bowling night where everyone gets psyched up ahead of time for the big game.

Movie Afternoons

When the autumn brings wind and rain, and outside play feels unappealing, you can create some magic for your little one by renting classic, wholesome animated films like Winnie-The-Pooh . You can add fun to the day by assembling a menagerie of stuffed toys to watch the film with you, under some colorful fleece blankets. For a toddler, cuddling with a stuffed Winnie The Pooh or Piglet, and their mommy, while watching a wonderful film, can be a really happy way to spend a rainy day. I often brought out all our stuffed animals, to share the fun with my son, when he was a tolddler: after the film, he would spend time making the animals “play” as the movie characters did. By dimming the lights a little for a theatre effect, you can snuggle with your sweet toddler and just enjoy the moment. I found these quiet movie afternoons with my toddler extremely fulfilling: just be careful to find a film that is really mild, as even some Disney epics can be terrifying to little children. Winnie The Pooh and Beatrix Potter, the Care Bears, etc., will be interesting to your child without scaring them.
