Is your low libido slowing things down (or turning them off all together) in the bedroom? While there are lots of things you can try to get things going and moving again, something you may not have thought of trying is food.
There are certain foods that are considered aphrodisiac, or that arouse sexual desire, and including them in your diet either on an ongoing or periodic basis can really help boost your sex drive.
Here’s a short list of some of the foods you can try, or enjoy more of, in your diet to kick your libido back into gear!
Bananas
They may look like a certain part of the male anatomy, but that’s not why bananas are recommended for libido enhancement. They contain bromelain, B vitamins, and potassium, which help to improve your overall sexual health and well-being and increase production of sex hormones.
Garlic
Yes, it can wreak havoc on your breath, but it can also do wonders for your sex life by increasing blood flow to your genitalia—the allicin it contains does that for you.
Celery
What can a boring vegetable like celery do for your libido? Plenty. Androsterone is responsible for celery being considered a sexual stimulator. This hormone, oddly enough, is released through male sweat, and somehow gets women going (don’t worry, it’s odorless).
Avocado
Avocado may not be a regular ingredient in your everyday meals, but you may want to reconsider this, seeing as the folic acid and vitamin B6 it contains helps to improve your libido and “awaken” your hormones responsible for your sex drive.
Pumpkin seeds
Try these tasty seeds roasted as a snack to give you a shot of zinc and omega-3 fatty acids, both essential to your sexual health and turn-on factor.
Flaxseeds
Flaxseeds are not only good for your all-around, overall health, but they’re also helpful in testosterone production, which, in turn, boosts your sex drive. Flaxseeds also contain essential fatty acids to improve sexual well-being.
Figs
Even if you’ve never given figs a try, they’re worth it if you’re looking to boost your sex drive and stamina, as the amino acids found in figs will do just that!
Maca
You may not know what maca is, but a little enlightenment can go a long way in the bedroom. Maca is a newly introduced “superfood” that does all sorts of wonders for your sex life: it increases sexual performance, stamina, sperm count, fertility, and sexual desire. Time to get on the maca train!
Asparagus
If asparagus doesn’t appeal to your palate, you may want to find a way to stomach it in order to get things moving in the bedroom again. The high amounts of vitamin E, which is considered by some as the “sex vitamin,” it contains will help improve your sex life.
Almonds
Not just another nut: almonds boast those essential fatty acids necessary for sexual health and hormone production. Plus, they taste great, too!
Dark chocolate
Now here’s an aphrodisiac food you won’t mind indulging in! Eating chocolate—dark chocolate, especially, which contains more cocoa—helps trigger endorphins to produce feels of intense pleasure and even intoxication, both great for lovemaking! Try dark chocolate-covered almonds for a double whammy.
Chilies
Can you handle the heat? If you want to up the heat factor in your sex drive, then consider giving these spicy treats a try. The capsaicin, the “heat” within the chilies, releases endorphins to help you get into the mood for some spicy lovemaking.
