Plenty of women, particularly those in their late 30s and beyond, are on a continuous quest to look younger. Maintaining good overall health and a healthy weight
through proper diet and exercise, skin and hair care, and wearing the right clothes can all do wonders for how you look, shaving years off your appearance.
However, you can also look 10 years younger simply by using and applying a few simple makeup tricks that will take almost no extra time at all; in fact, if you already are used to a daily makeup regime, you may even end up saving time.
Here are some tips, divided by facial features, you can start using today to look 10 years younger with makeup:
Skin
Your skin is your base, the palette that serves as the foundation of your face and brings together the overall tone of your entire look. Taking good care of your skin is important, particularly as you age, and wearing and using makeup correctly can either age you or take 10 years off your face.
- Keep your face moisturized at all time.
- Use a light, moisture-rich foundation and apply lightly.
- Consider a sheer, tinted moisturizer instead of foundation for an even complexion.
- Use a bronzer for that sun-kissed glow.
Eyes
The eyes say a lot, and are often a dead giveaway as to someone’s age. Eye color and “spark” tend to fade with age; also, be you might already be greeting some new lines around your eyes. Using some eye makeup tricks, however, can help you look years younger.
- Use pale, iridescent eye shadow to open, widen, and wake up your eyes.
- Liner can help make your eyes look defined and bigger. Use a pencil, not liquid. Pale shadow and liner together produces a rather striking, yet youthful, effect.
- Don’t forget eye concealer for those fine lines and for underneath the eyes.
Brows
Brows frame the eyes and give definition to your face. However, overtime, brows can thin. Here’s what you can do to help your eyebrows give your face a more youthful appearance.
- Lightening your eyebrows can make your face softer and make it look younger. Go a shade or two lighter than your current color.
- Try using a brow powder instead of a pencil; it provides subtle color, giving your face a softer look, and works more quickly and efficiently than a pencil.
Cheeks
With age comes a fading of that lovely, youthful “flush” or “glow” of the cheeks as well as the appearance of fine lines. Bring that glow back and reduce those lines!
- Use a pinky, rosy-colored blush.
- Try cream instead of powder; cream can give a smoother finish while powder may make face lines more visible.
Lips
Even if your lips are nice and full and your most fabulous feature, age can play some nasty tricks on them; for one, the appearance of fine lines right around the mouth. Also, if you’ve been used to a nice, natural rosy shade, you may notice that color fading overtime. Here’s some help!
- Avoid dark lipstick colors. Dark lipcolor can make you look harsh and actually age you, highlighting lines around your mouth. Try a lighter, more sheer color with gloss.
- Avoid heavy-duty, thick lipstick (regardless of color), which can also make harsh and age your face. Try neutral, tinted lip gloss instead, which will make your lips look smooth, soft, full, and healthy.
