green salad dietEveryone knows salads are healthy but most people just think of them as one part of a bigger meal. However there are lots of salads that can make wonderful complete meals which cover all the basic food groups and leave you feeling satisfied and fulfilled. These are great for diets or every night kind of meals. Have a salad or two each week for lunch or dinner and you’ll be getting lots of vitamins from the green leafy vegetables that many of us tend to forget to eat. Here are some great complete salad meals.

Chinese chicken saladChinese Chicken Salad
A Chinese Chicken Salad is light weight but still filling. Combine some ice berg lettuce with Chinese noodles, mandarin oranges, sliced carrots, grilled chicken and sesame dressing.  This meal is delicious and very healthy. You can add other items your liking as well.

taco saladTaco Salad
Cook up some lean ground beef and season with taco seasoning. Pour this over a bed of lettuce then add some cheese, sour cream, tomatoes, salsa, guacamole and any other Mexican topping you wish. While this one isn’t the most healthy salad it is quite scrumptious and a great meal to make quickly, like after you get home from work and are tired.

fruit and veggie saladFruit and Vegetable Salad
Choose any of your favorite fruits and vegetables and combine them into a salad. Choose a neutral lettuce such as butter lettuce and pair it with all your favorites chopped up and spread over. Pair it with a sweet raspberry vinaigrette for the most healthy salad possible. This one is perfect for a lunch or a summer dinner.

Love seafood? Great, it is so good for you but those pastas and breads that seafood is often paired with aren’t so kind to the waistline nor the arteries so once in a while you should try your favorite seafood in a salad variation. Dice up crab meat and mix it with some fish and lobster. Or fry up some scallops and toss them over a bed of Mediterranean lettuce. If you’re really adventurous go for some calamari and oysters over a rich green leafy lettuce variation with a cabbage mixture. Pair the seafood with a red dressing such as Catalina or go for a creamy mixture like a butter Caesar.

steak salad grilledGrilled Steak Salad
Get your fill of red meat but with the additional value of a salad. This way you’ll get the taste but eat less of it then you would if you were say having a steak. Combine all the veggies you like such as bell peppers, spinach, squash, tomatoes, onions and even a couple slices of avocado. Put a thin slice of Swiss cheese over the steak or sprinkle a bit of Parmesan and you have a complete meal fit for the entire family.
