Eco Friendly FashionEco-boutiques.  I have written about green fabrics that are much kinder to our environment than synthetic fabrics and chemically dyed, process, or treated fabrics.  Well, what about green fashion?

When you hear “green fashion” you might envision hippies wearing tie-dye shirts with hemp necklaces and flaunting dreadlocks.  But, green fashion, or eco-fashion, is so much more than that—though hemp is a part of it!  There are a multitude of eco-conscious online boutiques sprouting and laying roots on the Web.  This article highlights some of my favorite sites for environmentally-sound and chic style to help you better shop for green-minded fashion.

World of Good.  World of Good is an eBay site and a source for eco-friendly apparel, accessories, jewelry, shoes, handbags, and more.  They are (quoting directly from the site) the “world’s first online marketplace to convene thousands of People Positive and Eco Positive sellers and products all in one place, empowering you to shop in ways that align with your personal values. Respected, independent organizations verify the positive impact every product has on people and the planet. Our goal is to ensure that every choice you make here is a good one.”

The site allows you to shop by purchase impact: people positive, animal friendly, supports a cause, and, my favorite, eco positive.  They have a huge selection of products including accessories, handbags like the recycled foil bag , clothing like the organic cotton bikini, shoes like the Chuck Taylor-inspired men’s athletic shoes and jewelry, like this silver necklace.  World of Good offers products for men, women, and children.

Because this site is so well-organized, it makes it easy to shop and narrow down your selection for eco-friendly fashion choices.

Vickerey.com's Eco Boutique.  Vickerey.com’s eco-boutique offers a large selection of clothing and accessories that respect nature and the earth.  This collection for women offers casual tanks, shirts, cover-ups (coats, hoodies, cardigans, and wraps), pants, capris, shorts, and accessories.  Their clothing and accessories are reasonably priced, for the most part, and their selection is wide for each category.

Their products are made from bamboo, organic cotton, and hemp.  These are all sustainable and eco-conscious fabrics.  All their products are designed to be environmentally conscious, comfortable, and stylish.  The site is easy to shop because it is well-organized by clothing category, offers sizing charts to assist in size selection, and you can order online.

www.cocosshoppe.comCoco’s Shoppe.   Coco’s Shoppe is a mélange of the most coveted fashion with the utmost in sustainability and eco-consciousness in mind.  They offer fashionable clothing, accessories, and beauty products for women that are both wearable and sustainable.

The site is organized by brand/designer… More than two dozen of them, including Kris Nations jewelry, Stewart & Brown, and Beau Soleil.  Each product description includes what makes the product is eco-conscious.  You can order online and the shipping is free!  The site is relatively easy to navigate, despite not being able to shop by product category.

Linda LoudermilkLinda Loudermilk.  Linda Loudermilk, of Los Angeles, CA, has made it her mission to “save the planet, one fabulous number at a time”.  She is a pioneer in eco-luxury, having successfully mashed couture up against an eco-lifestyle for sexy, edgy, and fun fashion with rocker chic appeal.  She is the premiere designer to build lifestyle brand that couples eco with luxury.  All of her pieces are made from sustainable materials without the use of toxic processes and pesticides.  She works only with manufacturers who are concerned about their environmental impact.

Linda’s pieces are organized by collection and season, e.g., Fall 2008.  Her pieces are mostly for women, though there jeans for men in her denim line.  While her collections are truly high fashion, you cannot buy her pieces online directly from her site.  But, she does provide a list of boutiques carrying her line.  And, Zappos.com carries many of her products.

Hopefully the review of these sites will help you better find eco-conscious style and fashion!
